Scottish Qualifications Authority
The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA), funded by the Scottish Executive is the national body responsible for the development, accreditation, assessment and certification of qualifications other than those offered by institutions of higher education. The SQA was established in 1997 with the merger of the Scottish Examinations Board (SEB) and the Scottish Vocational Education Council (SCOTVEC). It is funded by the Scottish Executive.
The SQA are responsible for issuing the Scottish Qualifications Certificate (SQC) since January 2000.
