Key Skills
Key
Skills have been developed to provide students with general vocational
skills that may not be covered within the syllabus of specific
qualifications. It is designed to better train young people for
the workplace.
There
are six main types of key skill:

Communication
· Application of Number
· IT
· Working with Others
· Improving own Learning and Performance
· Problem Solving
The
first three of these may be certificated as free-standing qualifications
or can be integrated into a full Key Skills qualification. The
full qualification certificate states the level attained in each
key skill from 1 to 4, in line with the National
Qualifications Framework.
Similar
qualifications known as Basic Skills are also available at NQF
Entry level, level 1 and level 2.
